Urgent care
Dental pain does not wait for a convenient time.
We keep time aside on clinic days for severe pain, swelling, broken teeth and dental trauma. Call first so we can prepare and minimise your wait.
Urgent cases prioritised on clinic days
Go to a hospital emergency department if:
- There is difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Facial swelling is spreading rapidly
- Bleeding will not stop with firm pressure
- There has been a head injury or loss of consciousness
Do not wait for a dental appointment if any of the above apply.
While you wait
What to do in the first few minutes.
These steps buy time and reduce damage. They do not replace a proper examination.
01
Severe toothache
- Take ordinary pain relief according to the label, if it is safe for you.
- Do not put aspirin or salt directly on the gum — it can burn the tissue.
- Avoid very hot, cold or sweet food on that side.
- Call us for the earliest urgent slot.
02
Knocked-out permanent tooth
- Hold the tooth by the crown, never the root.
- Rinse gently with milk or saline. Do not scrub.
- Try to place it back in the socket and bite gently on a clean cloth.
- If that is not possible, keep it in milk or saliva and call immediately.
03
Broken tooth or restoration
- Save any fragments in milk or saline.
- Rinse the mouth with warm salt water.
- Apply firm pressure with clean gauze if the gum is bleeding.
- Avoid chewing on that side and call the clinic.
Call first
We will tell you honestly whether to come in.
Describe the symptoms. If we can help, we will reserve the earliest urgent slot and tell you what to do on the way. If you need a hospital, we will say so.

Emergency questions
The things people ask in pain.
If your question is not here, call. It is faster than waiting for a reply.
What if a permanent tooth is knocked out?
Hold it by the crown, rinse gently without scrubbing, and try to place it back in the socket. If that is not possible, keep it in milk or saliva and call us immediately. Time matters.
Should I go to a hospital?
If there is difficulty breathing or swallowing, spreading facial swelling, uncontrolled bleeding or a head injury, go to an emergency department immediately.
Can you see me without an appointment?
We keep urgent slots open each day. Call first so we can prepare and minimise your wait.
